Every September, Uherské Hradiště hosts the Slovácké slavnosti vína, the biggest wine festival in the region.
For three days Uherské Hradiště becomes the centre of it all: people, music and wine from across the region. And we are in the middle of it, with our tent on Masarykovo náměstí.
45 samples at the tent in 2026
Three of them were frizzante for the Indian summer, and it was worth tasting the difference between the full, mineral one from traditional varieties by Vinařství Medek and the fragrant Muškát one by Bečica & Juračka. At tastings we keep hearing that reds don’t do well in Moravia, so we brought a ripe André from the exceptional 2022 vintage by Medek and a playful Cabernet Moravia by Pavel Sedlář. Pavel also brought a semi-dry Tramín that smells of roses and finishes mineral, and the Rulandské šedé came from Tomáš Bečica’s vineyard right beside the Derfla church.
To make sure we weren’t just pouring our own, we picked what else we like from our beautiful Slovácko: the Pinots from Štěpán Maňák, overall winner of Vinařství roku 2024, a Ryzlink vlašský from Zámecké vinařství Bzenec and a Riesling from Vinařství Bunža, whose Bzenec Riesling won at AWC Vienna. For drivers, children and the merely thirsty we keep unfiltered grape juice.
On Friday a cimbalom band plays
We stand right in the middle of it all, and the music is for singing and dancing as much as for listening. In 2026 it was Ohnica from Uherské Hradiště, from five to half past seven and again from quarter past nine to midnight.
The festival fills the whole town
Klub kultury, the town’s own cultural centre, has run it since 2003, always on the second weekend of September, and close to a hundred towns and villages around it take part. On Saturday morning a parade in folk costume winds through the town, cimbalom bands and brass bands play in the squares, the historic buildings are open, and tens of thousands of people come into the centre.
Common questions
- Is there an entry fee for the tent?
- Our tent is freely accessible, and we are part of the Slovácké slavnosti vína, which is also free to enter. You then pay only for what you taste, in cash right at the tent. There are plenty of ATMs in the centre.
- Do I need my own glass?
- You don’t. Buy a glass from us, or bring your own, it just needs a fill line at 1 dl, which is the measure we go by.
- Is it just your own wines, or others too?
- Both. We pour our own wines from Sady plus selected wines from other Slovácko winemakers, so there’s plenty to choose from. Each year we have around 40 different samples.
- Is there seating and live music?
- Yes to both. Right in the tent we have tables and benches. The tent is step-free and accessible. On Friday we usually have a cimbalom band.
- What if it rains?
- When it comes down, everyone with a glass moves in under our roof. We have never counted them; that would mean putting the bottle down. But over a hundred and fifty easily take shelter with us, sitting and standing.
- Do you have burčák?
- Look forward to burčák from Muškát moravský, the cloudy young wine still fermenting. Exactly the one we like to drink ourselves.
- Are children and dogs welcome?
- During the day the mood is family-friendly and children are welcome. In the evening it gets lively and it’s no longer ideal for kids, though that’s for parents to judge. A dog is no problem, but bear in mind a packed, loud square can be quite stressful for them.
- What are the opening hours?
- We always open at 16:00 on Friday and at 9:00 on Saturday and Sunday. On Friday and Saturday we pour late into the night, on Sunday until 17:00. Take the closing times with a pinch of salt: as long as the fun keeps flowing in the tent, we stay open.
- Where exactly is the tent?
- On Masarykovo náměstí in the centre of Uherské Hradiště, right in the thick of the festival. We’re the biggest tent on the square, you can’t miss it. Exact spot on Google Maps or Mapy.cz.
- Where do I find the programme and a map of the venues?
- On the official festival website: the programme day by day, a map of the venues, parking and road closures.
- Where can I find you otherwise, outside the festival?
- We’ll gladly welcome you in Sady. In May Derflanské otevřené sklepy and in November Derflanská mladá vína. At both we’re right by the cellars.
